Sainik School Nagrota marked its 56th Raising Day with a historic milestone as Hon’ble Chief Minister of the Union Territory of Jammu & Kashmir, Jenab Omar Abdullah, inaugurated the newly constructed Girls’ Hostel ‘Triveni’. The state-of-the-art facility reflects the school’s progressive vision of empowering young girls with equal opportunities in academics, leadership, and holistic growth.
On his arrival, the Chief Minister was accorded a ceremonial Guard of Honour and paid homage at the Shaurya Smarak by laying a wreath in tribute to the school’s bravehearts. He later joined the school staff for a group photograph, adding to the momentous occasion.
The event was graced by the presence of Senior officers from Headquarters 16 Corps, including Lt Gen PK Mishra, GOC, HQ 16 Corps, and Maj Gen Paramvir Singh Dagar, COS, HQ 16 Corps, along with officials from the State Education Department and alumni of the school.
The Raising Day celebrations commenced with the traditional cake-cutting ceremony, where the Chief Minister was joined by Cadet Stanzin Chosgyal (School Cadet Captain) and Cadet Ayush Shan (Junior-most cadet). The symbolic gesture highlighted the spirit of unity between generations of cadets.
Captain (IN) Shibu Devasia, Principal of Sainik School Nagrota, presented a specially crafted school memento to the Chief Minister, embodying the ethos of knowledge, bravery, and discipline. The Chief Minister also interacted warmly with the staff during a High Tea and penned words of encouragement in the Visitors’ Book, acknowledging the school’s role in nation-building.
The inauguration of Girls’ Hostel ‘Triveni’ stood out as the highlight of the day, underscoring Sainik School Nagrota’s commitment to inclusivity, modern residential facilities, and fostering leadership among girl cadets. The hostel marks a new chapter in the school’s journey, ensuring that young girls receive the same nurturing environment as their male counterparts to excel in academics, discipline, and service to the nation.
The presence of the Hon’ble Chief Minister elevated the 56th Raising Day celebrations, reaffirming the school’s legacy of excellence, patriotism, and its mission to groom future leaders of the Armed Forces.
The evening celebrations included fun games, cultural performances, raffle draws with exciting prizes, and concluded with a community dinner and DJ night.
